Sara Story Design

Did you hear that big thud earlier this morning? It was the sound of me crashing to the floor after hyperventilating over the interiors of Sara Story Design. I have a new, very serious design crush. Each Sara Story room is exquisite in its composition and use of shape. So spare, so elegant. And yet completely accessible, livable, and comfortable. And Sara Story's use of color is sophisticated and restrained. Whites, grays, muddy brown. But then there's an unexpected accent color. A purple kitchen ceiling! Note also her fabulous sculptural lighting. Oh, I really cannot get enough.

Sara Story was born in Japan and has trotted all over the Far East. You can see this Asian influence reflected in her selection of pattern and imagery. I must, must have fish walls.

I like that Story leans away from pretty and more towards handsome. Even the girl's room is feminine without being a bit too sweet.

I have now abandoned all previous plans for our master bedroom and will be copying the above orangy splendor. Lamps, headboard upholstery, use of ivory and white — and especially the glorious walls — are now The Official bedroom design plan.
