Black is beautiful

It’s the new black, it’s power. Black is grounded. It’s strong and statement and arty. Black is just so incredibly beautiful.

Speaking of beauty in black, have you seen the new Dransfield & Ross pieces inspired by Louise Nevelson? Gorgeous.

Black beauties

I love black. I have always loved black. In my first apartment, I wanted to wallpaper a room in black but my mother told me black was only for depressed people. She was absolutely right about everything else in life — but not black.

Pair black with a bold hue and the combo sings; pair it with neutrals, still singing. And with hints of ochre or brassy goldtones? Simply beautiful.

And then there’s anything geometric in black. Graphic, stunning.

Black is both the perfect backdrop and the perfect accent.

Clean and simple, bold and striking. Black is a nice surprise.

The photos above were culled from these gorgeous blogs: Emily Henderson, Head Over Heels, Patternity, See Saw Designs, Solid FrogThe Glamourai, The Nero Chronicles, and The Sartorialist. I’ve updated my Blog Watch listing at right so that it more matches the blogs  the I { try my best } to read daily. Go ahead and browse the list and see if you meet some new friends.

Matte black

Brown or charcoal or gold might just be the “new black,” but I like the old black. Especially dull, pitch black.
