Marbled bliss

Ok, so you know how I flip out over marbled anything? Including those newish Derian plates for Astier de Villatte, marbleized balloons, Kelly Wearstler for Sferra Quartz pillow, framed marbled paper art (which thanks to LGN) I totally copied for Isabel’s room and it looks great, and more and more?

Well yesterday you could probably hear my squeals of delight and amazement all the way from Chamblee, Georgia. I walked into Antique Factory { home to MINTY } and there it was. A set of 6 chrome dining chairs upholstered in handprinted marbled fabric.

Antique — yet perfect condition. And the fabric colorway looks spot-on current. I love the silver fabric pigments used in the pattern. It dances off the other swirls. Whoa. And when that organic loosey goosey swirly fabric is combined with the chrome structure of the chairs, it’s just magic.

Oh I seeing your eyeballs crossing about now because they landed right on that authentic Pierre Cardin chrome and smoked glass table. Oh yes. Those delicious marbleized chairs and tucked neatly around an even tastier table. A perfect Cardin specimen. Signed. And the table even expands. The top opens to reveal a hidden pop-up leaf. Could it be any better?

There’s an identical table on 1st dibs. at the “reduced price” of $7,900 for the table alone. At $3,500 the Antique Factory price is more than half that of dibster — and includes the set of 6 chairs. Too pricey for me { dammit! } but a great value as a statement-making piece to last a lifetime.

If you’re interested in the chair set and table, call Peter at Antique Factory:  770 455 7570. { Peter will sell table separately and reprice accordingly. } And if you buy them, could I please please come visit often?

4 nice pairings

Unexpectedly fun: brass + yellow

What a happy surprise. I just love this Urban Electric Co. pendant with it’s brass on the outside and shiny yellow on the inside. So unexpected and so exactly right.

Plain jane with prissy

Rough and refined, leather and chiffon, anything with mint green.

My favorite mash-up

Stunning old architecture done up in spare clean modern decor

{ Sorry. I've misplaced the source. }

Pattern on pattern

Maybe more than a pairing — this is a pattern pile-on. Layered deep and downright riotous. In a good way.

And I’m sorry. I just dropped out of sight. I didn’t mean to. A couple of days off turned into a week which turned into… But I miss my blogging pals, miss being in the loop, miss expressing design-y ideas and pretty pictures.

I’ve been busy on my blogging hiatus. A little of this:

A lot of this:
Work overload!

 Thank goodness for lots of great projects. And, yes, I badly need to update my Eye Q website.

Just a little of this:

 I hate to clean. But I love 2 new cleaning things:
(1) Novus lucite cleaner; (2) my new Bac-Pac Vac.
Our great pyrenees is molting is that cool vacuum gets up all most of the hairy tumbleweeds around here!
{ Thank you Mr. Man for the vacuum. For years, I’ve watched gardeners use back-pack blowers and have said (over + over) that I wanted the vacuum version. Mr. Man tracked one down and surprised me with it! }

And a smattering of this:
I painted our bathrooms and bedroom and had them wallpapered. Wow, big changes and
 it all feels soooo good.
Mmmm. Feels good to be back. I missed you guys. xxxooo,

Hello from the land of brass giraffes and sick teenaged girls

Yep, my blogging has been spotty and I’m sorry guys. Here at Casa EyeSpy I’ve been a little obsessed with all things MINTY. Spare time has been spent polishing brass and chrome, hauling boxes over to the booth, and fluffing fluffing fluffing.

Plus a good bit of inner dialogue like this: Keep it for me? No, it’s for MINTY! Put it in my house? No, it’s for MINTY! But, it’s so preeeeeetty. No, it’s for MINTY!  The worst inner struggle was over this fantastically fabulous 42" brass giraffe.

Isn’t she magnificent? Did I mention she’s 42" tall??? And solid brass???

But I have remained strong. I toted that big brass baby over to the booth. And she found a good new home within a matter of days. Then, I found Big Giraffe’s tiny cousin… a gorgeous little brass giraffe suited for tabletop display.

I tweeted about this little girl giraffe yesterday and *wham bam zam!!* — looks like she also is going to a new home.

And then temptation continues to mount as Nelya is stocking MINTY with all this great stuff that I have wanted all my life. More inner dialogue! Seriously, can you believe how good these things are?

Another blogging distraction is mean old mono. My sweet 15-year-old is laid up with fever, fatigue, swollen glands, headache and homework worries over icky mono. This sweet boy is helping though:

I've loaded bunches of photos of MINTY merchandise to facebook albums. Take a peek at the goodies there. And check out the MINTY website for posts about more new items.
