Baluster Lamps
Wednesday, April 29, 2009 Yes, friends. This is a rerun. I’ve had outta control work the past week and can’t seem to carve out even the tiniest sliver of time for decor fun. My plan is by midnight tonight I’m all caught up and diving into new + fabulous interior design topics. See you tomorrow!

Belgium decor and the work of designer/collector Axel Vervoordt are inspiring designers the world over. { Oh man, I can't get enough! } Many of the resulting interiors are rich with nubby linens, a spare color palette, weathered antiques, and found objects. And, often in the mix is beautiful lighting made from old balusters. These lamps project a quiet strength and mesh beautifully with furnishings from a range of eras.

I missed this one, so it's delightfully new to me. As much as I LOVE the lamps, I'm always intrigued by collectibles. My curiosity is up about the object next to the bells. Getting back to the lamps though, these are "simply" elegant. Glad you're back Susieq!
I'm sure everyone has there favorite salvage yard. After seeing your post, I immediately went to the website of my local haunt. OMG, there they were--"Balusters c. 1893 from Philadelphia Museum - 5 avail." Guess you know where I'll be today. Good luck with the deadline.
Molly, I'm glad I'm back too! I was having interior design withdrawals. And let me tell you... they are ugly!
Kirsten, I'd love to see those balusters. I'll bet they cost a bazillion dollars since they are of historic value. Wow.
