Save Domino + Fresh Home
Saturday, February 28, 2009
If you’re still grieving Domino’s demise, be sure to go to new blog Save Domino. Betsy, an online dating blogger, has constructed a petition to save the magazine or, at the very least, the website. There’s even a contest too. If you have an inspirational story to tell, you might win Domino: the Book of Decorating.

In this time when other magazines are disappearing right and left, Reader’s Digest has started publishing Fresh Home. It’s a DIYer’s dream book with how-to projects front to back. Don’t expect great interior design. It’s mainstream. But, if you like to pound nails, mix cement, get dirt under your nails, this could be a new magazine to add to your bedside stack.
{ And here’s a happy by-product... This new magazine is bound to increase traffic over at the freshome blog! }

How does she propose to save the magazine when the staff has been dispersed and its former offices are already occupied by another publication?
Domino was a money-loser from its inception, to the tune of $40 million.
Bless her heart. She should start her own web 'zine up if she has that much enthusiasm about the topic.
I just checked out her site and left the same comments. I know the magazine had fans, but that's just a little weird.
Well, guess she can dream...
