Craftsman Makeover
Monday, November 23, 2009 Craftsman houses were the modern of the early last century. They are quite handsome, but some can be dark and heavy. Not this one! Designer Aaron Hom undertook a stunning makeover. The interior — yes even much of the prized Craftsman wood work — has been painted brightest white. Any period antiques are whitewashed and upholstered seating is bright white also. All other furnishings are classic modern in a restrained palette of natural tones with accessories and art providing pops of color here and there. Now the interior is fresh, really eye catching!

Love the bright and airiness of it, and I would kill for those ceilings!
I always enjoy looking at white washed homes, but I wonder what it feels like to live in one. I think you must have some serious architectural details to make it work.
God bless him! I wish more people would take the plunge and lighten up those dreary old Craftsman houses.
Totally fresh! The dining and living room areas are especially wonderful. And the black trim is a real standout!
NOES!!!! woodwork is NOT HEAVY. i grew up in a early 1900's duplex. i LOVED the heavy oak archways, the panelling, the doors. the hall cabinets in the hall. the plate rail. the buffet. i hated when the house got aluminum. but i saved some cornices that were STUPIDLY removed.
What I would give for the chair in the next-to-last photo!
I sure wish I would have stumbled on this a little sooner!
