Barely There Color

New York Fashion Week wrapped up last Friday and WWD reported that for 2009 “Spring Ain't Got That Swing.” Though buyers thought the Spring 2009 runway fare generally lacked excitement, there’s lots of buzz around nude, barely-there, skintone-ish colors. Think Band-Aid pinky-peachy-beige and ballet pink. Or, creamy coffee and caramel icing. Liquid foundation make-up colors.

Nope, not boring beige. These are rich chromatic neutrals that give a warm, rosy, peachy cast. New RTW pieces by (LEFT to RIGHT) Philip Lim, Thakoon, Jill Stuart, and Rodarte from Vogue | style.com.

Since fashion trends are quickly translated into decor, let’s watch for new pale, warm neutrals in fabrics, materials, furniture, and new products. In the meantime, here are some images that capture that barely there color.

{ *Oh.oh.oh. My. Gosh. I knew I loved the interiors on the Brown Design website, and I’ve fished from that pond quite a bit. But, only just now, did I read that Brown is Ryan Brown of Flipping Out!  He’s my reality-interior-design-show crush. This IS true love. (And if you’re like me and are having Flipping Out withdrawals, SGM highly recommends The Rachel Zoe Project. Evidently, she’s just the crazy trainwreck to replace Jeff Lewis + crew.)  }
